Eulogies Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A legal directive placed a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative statements that were widely condemned by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and remarked they revealed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser could have acted when the decision to comment on the passing was made.
