Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health follows the boxing community offered sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
